Ts. DR. FARIDAH HANIM YAHYA

Faridah Hanim is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Human Development, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Malaysia. She is heading the Educational Technology research focussing in the area instructional design using visualization technology. She is also appointed as a member of Malaysia Board of Technology (MBOT) and is given the designation of Ts. Furthermore, she received Advance Diploma in Creative Content Development from Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resource. She also appointed as Certified Content Creator, for Educator@Virtual Learning Environment (EDUCATOR@VLE) Program from Ministry of Higher Education.

She started her career as a teacher for Additional Mathematics in government secondary school in Malaysia for 11 years. Then, she continued her studies at  Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for her Master degree. After that, she served as ICT officer at Teacher Education Division, Ministry of Education for 2 years. She continued her studies for PhD at UKM for 3 years. Then, she joined Teacher Education Institute as a lecturer for 7 years. Finally, she joined  UPSI in 2017 as a senior lecturer in Educational Technology.

In the past five years, she had produced 3 books about the application of ICT and 2 books for Special Needs Education. She involved in developing and testing Apps for Down Syndrome and Dyslexic children. Besides that, she did extensive research for mathematics education in secondary school in Malaysia to enhance level of geometrical thinking and level of visual spatial skill. In order to do that, she developed a learning strategy using video screencast and Dynamic Geometrical Software for topics Geometry. Furthermore, she also developed a pedagogical model of integration of visualization technology in Mathematics for topic Geometry for secondary mathematics teachers. She has published in local and international journals. Till today, she has published 26 articles, and 9 of the articles are indexed in WOS or SCOPUS (citation>16; H-index=3).

She had participated in Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2019 and won 1 Gold medal and a Special Award for her innovation. Thus, she received a certificate of award of excellence from UPSI for her success. Besides that, she also had participated in E-Learning Carnival & Conference 2018 and had received 1st Innovation Prize for Invention, Innovation and Invention. Till now, she had received 9 Gold medals, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze and 1 Best Award for her innovations and had registered 11 copyrights and 1 trademark for her research products. In addition, she received another certificate of excellence from UPSI for these.

At international level, she had invited as Keynote Speaker for an International conference at Universitas PGRI Madiun, Surabaya, Indonesia in 2019. She also gave invited to give general lecture to the students. Two years later, she was invited as Invited Speaker dan Advisory Board for a conference at the same university.

In the past five years, she has received public and private research funding. She is interested in multi-disciplinary studies that develop model/ module on integration of digital and non-digital technology among educators and students (technology acceptance and usability testing) and quantitative methodological topics (psychometrics properties and items validation).  She also applies the application of SPSS and partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) in her writing articles and research. Her latest research is using Augmented Reality (AR) in teaching 3D Geometry for Mathematics in secondary school.
